Chapter 1
The Tragedy
Dear Daddy,
I hope you are doing well. Mummy says that she can’t wait for you to come from your adventure to collect rocks and stuff. I have always wanted to go on one, but Mummy says I can’t. She still is knitting a blanket from last month, and since her leg is in a cast, it’s basically her only option to do around here while I cook, clean and play all the time.
I cannot believe that 1 month flew by so fast. I hope you are doing well in Archiology.
Love, Deena and Mummy
Dearest Deena and “Mummy”,
I am having a great time doing this stuff, (though sometimes it can be boring.) Deena, I appreciate you trying, but you do not spell archaeology A-r-c-i-o-l-o-g-y.. You spell it A-r-c-h-a-e-o-l-o-g-y. I love you a lot, and reading your letter made me feel more happier than reading your text messages. And don’t worry.- I will convince mummy to let you have an adventure! Love you!
“Mummy,” I love you a lot. I too cannot wait to see you. Also, please let Deena go on an adventure.
Love, Daddy
PS: For you Beth, Love, your loving husband with good hair.
I laughed at the letter. Daddy didn’t even have hair! Daddy always knew how to crack a smile on my face ever since grandpa died of Covid-19. Same with mummy., it’s just that she’s not as good at it. I really miss daddy. I am going to see him today from Canada.
It was when I heard someone crying their eyes out. I turned around. It was mummy. My mummy was a plump woman who always looks pretty. She had long, strawberry red hair.
“There was a plane crash!” She sobbed. “Daddy is gone forever!” Tears filled my eyes. I would never do what took my daddy from this world.
Chapter 2
Time to be a big sister
I’m just a typical ten year old now. Nothing to laugh and smile for. I only sing once a month. I only smile once a week. One rainy sunday morning, I was having a pretend tea party with my dolls…
Wait! Wait! Wait! Now we are at the part when the fun starts! I’M NOT TELLING YOU WHAT THE FUN IS! We could listen to me blab all day, or we could just start to read! (Again!)
“Deena!” Mummy screamed. I was in the middle of singing HIGH HOPES by PANIC AT THE DISCO! When Mummy called me. I raced down stairs. “Yes Mummy?” I asked in my soft voice. “Deena, you are going to have a baby sibling in 6 months!” I cheered and looked at her stomach. She was indeed pregnant.
Now that was something to be happy about ever since Daddy’s death. Then I thought of something that made me want to cry and my stomach lurch. Anyways, I did the unthinkable today. I had read that I used to have 2 big sisters that disappeared one day in mummy’s diary. Their names were Kimmy and Juna. I was shocked, but I didn’t dare say a word to mummy about this. Daddy’s situation made her sad enough. I cleared them out of my head though. The more I thought about them, the more I would expose to mummy that I knew about them.
The very next day, Mummy and I went to the hospital. My best friend and cousin Daffodil was there. “Hi!” She exclaimed. I was surprised to see her so happy. A year ago, she had lost her mother. “Guess what!” She beamed. “Daddy’s adopted this baby that we named Petunia, after my mother!” “Wow!” I exclaimed. The thought of getting another cousin and a sibling seemed very exciting. “Guess what!” I beamed. “What?” Daffodil asked. “I’m getting a sibling! We decided that if it’s a girl, we would name it Luna, and if it were a boy, we would name him Kimothy.”
I peered inside the room Petunia was in. She was so cute! No taller than 20 inches, she looked like she could fit inside of a cup. Mummy called me. “Deena!” She yelled. “Yes Mummy?” I replied back. “You are getting triplets. “Triplets!” I yelled so loud that the nurses looked at me. Then they smiled, because they probably understood
that I was getting triplets as siblings. It was September 4th today. In the beginning of October, I would officially be a big sister.
Chapter 3
Daffodil + Daffodils
1 week after I had found out that I would be getting triplets, me and Mummy found out 3 names if all three were girls (Ferosa, Neptuna, Michele) and three if there were boys (Kim, David, Pompeze.)
I was pretty excited because Daffodil was staying for the whole week along with Luna. It had been so long since she had been to my house. I was so excited to show her her gift. It was in our backyard.
Our backyard is my most favorite place in the world. It looks enchanted. It is beautiful. It is full of animals, and a stream lurks around our neighborhood. It has woods so green that I can’t believe that I hate spinach. It has flowers so pink and rosy that I almost fall for the fact that Pablo Picasco painted them. Soon, I heard the screech of a car. I rushed into the front yard. My mom was running towards her screaming sisters. Then, Daffodil came out of the car. Daffodil came running towards me the second she saw me. I grinned. “Hey Daf, how are you?” “Great!” She said so loud that a few neighbors peeked out of their windows and smiled. We were always so loud when we saw each other.
“That’s good, now follow me, I have a gift for you in our backyard!” “Oh!” She beamed. “What is it?” “Follow me if you want to know!” I grinned. I ran to our backyard. Daffodil followed behind, looking really overwhelmed. “Ta-da!” I yelled. Daffodil opened her mouth in surprise. There, right in front of her, was a flower bed of daffodils. She looked at me for a moment. Then, she flung her arms around me. “Deena,” she stammered, “this is amazing!” I laughed. Daffodil always appreciated all of my gifts. I plucked a daffodil by its roots and put it in a pot. Daffodil grinned as she took the gift.
We spent the rest of the day in the backyard. It was summer vacation, so we got to roast marshmallows in the night. “Alright everyone!” Uncle Lion called out. “Time to go inside!” I suddenly remembered that I had left my favorite pink rubber ball in the woods, not so deep.
I looked around to see if the coast was clear. Then, I walked towards the woods. I looked around for 2 minutes, when I saw my ball. I was just leaning down to pick it up when I saw a glow. I walked towards it. The closer I got, the brighter it got. I started running towards it. Then I heard a rustle behind me. I whirled around, and saw Daffodil. “Daf, what are you doing here?” I hissed. “I saw you go into the woods. I followed you, so I could run home if anything happened to you.
“Okay?” I was confused. I cleared that thought of my head, remembering the fact that Daffodil unhesitantly made up excuses. “What is that glow?” She asked me. “I guess we have to find out.”
Chapter 4
Lost!
As me and Daffodil ran towards the glow, I thought about one thing that made me stop. “What if it’s dangerous?” I asked. “Aw, come on Dee, don’t be such a scaredy cat!” She said in a sing-song type of voice. “Well how about you go, and I stay here!” I screamed. “Fine!” She yelled. I turned back to go home, when I heard Daffodil scream. I ran as fast as my legs could take me. “Daf!” I shouted when I saw her. This huge portal type thing was sucking my cousin in! I grabbed her hand, trying to pull her out. “Let go!” She gasped. But it was too late. The portal was so strong that within seconds it had devoured my cousin and me.
“Where the heck are we?” Daffodil mumbled. We both had fallen flat on our faces. I stood up. I gasped at the land. It was so pretty. There were little fairies flying, and the land was full of colorful mushrooms. Bright green hills, breathtaking flowers- it was so- well, pretty. Based on the doors I could see, I guessed that the people lived there. Suddenly, two men appeared before us before I could finish scanning the land. But, were they men? They were green, and ugly- like shrek, (Daddy always told us stories about him.)
I took a deep breath. “Hello,” I said sweetly. “We are lost. Can you please help us?” They said nothing. “Leave it to the pro.” Daffodil said. Then she started grunting and doing funny movements. To my surprise, they actually understood her. They started to grunt. “Hey, I can understand them!” She yelled. “Tell me what they are saying!” I yelled. “They say that they once were girls, like us. They used to live in- oh my gosh, our house! They say that if we don’t get home by the next full moon, which is in 2 weeks, we will change into goblins, and we are going to have to stay here for a whole year, and then, you get a chance for 2 weeks to go home, otherwise, you will have to stay here forever! They say that their names are Kimmy and Juna, sisters of- she gasped, “Deena Mcpop. “Kimmy, Juna,” It’s me, I’m Deena. They roared in delight.” Daffodil continued, “They want to come with us. Their one year is over- their time here goes way faster, so since they disappeared when Deena was 1, 1 year here was nine years back at home!” “I can’t believe that you guys went into the woods, and fell through the portal!” They froze. Then the corners of their mouths started to twitch. Then it started to become a small smile, then a grin and then- “You guys laugh like girls!” I exclaimed. Then, to my complete surprise, Juna started to speak in her complete normal voice! “We were just toying with you and Daffodil. Daffodil could understand us because the moment you fell through the portal, both of you gained at least two powers that you have to discover. Whenever something falls through the portal, Kimmie and I are in this state.” “Daffodil has the power to speak with animals and trolls like us.” Kimmie concluded.
“So, where do you guys stay?” I asked. They looked at each other. “We will go and pack.” Kimmie said quietly. Daffodil and I looked at eachother. Something was up. We silently followed them to their ride. It was a long trip. About an hour or so. They had a little bike - wagon. Me, Kimmie, and Daffodil sat in the back (which was the wagon.)
Juna drove us through a pumpkin patch. Or, was it a pumpkin patch? They were bright colors. Green, purple, yellow, red, pink- all the colors you could imagine. Weirdly, there were no orange pumpkins. Each one had a hole in it.
Kimmie noticed the look on my face. “The frog dukes live here.” She said as if she had never acted the way she acted before. Daffodil and I looked at each other. Frog Dukes? Suddenly, something came out of one of the pumpkin houses. Sure enough, it was a frog. Dressed in a duke’s suit. “Hello,” he said directly to Kimmie and Juna. What do I owe the pleasure today Kimmie and Juna?
Before they could reply, he went inside, hopped out, sniffed me, and said, “Read this paper out loud.”
This is what the paper said: Mori Mayaka. “Mori Mayaka.” I said. And then something unbelievable happened.
Chapter 5
The change
Kimmy and Juna were slowly changing back to their normal state. Kimmy changed back first. She was so beautiful. Waist length long dirty blonde hair, like both me and Daffodil. She had soft skin, and a few freckles here and there. But her eyes. Her eyes reminded me of Daddy.
Juna changed back next. She too was pretty, and looked exactly like Kimmy. The only difference was that she had mummy’s eyes. “You guys!” I yelled. How did this happen?
“It’s simple!” Kimmy exclaimed. “All you have to do is get someone related to the person who is turned into an ogre to say those words!” “But that still doesn’t change the fact that if we don’t get back in 2 weeks, we will be here forever, no matter who comes through the portal!” Juna said cautiously.
I hugged the frog. “Thank you!” I yelled. “Your welcome.” He replied with a grin. “One thing,” The frog asked. “Yes? Daffodil replied. “I would like to come with you.” “Why?” Me and Juna said at the same time. “I too was dropped here, and I too only have 2 weeks to stay.” The frog said. “Also, you can call me Fon.”
“Okay Fon.” Daffodil said. “You can come.” With delight, Fon jumped in the wagon. When we got there, I understood why Kimmy and Juna were so quiet. Their place was horrible! Full of rats, mossy roofs, and nothing to eat! “You guys-” “Yes Deena. We are going hungry.” “I’ve never been here.” Fon said. “I’m sorry Kimmy and Juna. I have lots of food. You could have just asked me.” Kimmy sighed. “It’s okay Fon.” We packed, and soon everything was in the back.
“Can I go and pack?” Fon asked. “Sure.” Juna said as if she had never been sad or quiet in the first place. “You can go. We’ll pick you up.” Finally, we finished packing, and headed over to Fon’s to get him. “Hey.” Fon said cheerfully. He had packed 2 suitcases full of food and water, and one suitcase with his things. “Oh Fon, how thoughtful.” I gushed.
“Well, your welcome.” Fon said as he turned purple.
And finally, we began with our amazing adventure.
Chapter 6
The forgotten Statement
As we were riding, Fon asked, “Kimmy, didn’t we tell them?” Juna pulled the breaks, and turned around. “We didn’t tell them?” “Tell us what?” Daffodil asked curiously. “We are not allowed to run away! We forgot ourselves! The fairy police will come for us! We are not allowed back, and from now we are on the run!” Fon ranted. “Fon, why didn’t you tell us?” I yelled. “Deena, I’m sorry, I forgot!” Fon cried. “Well you should remember.” I shouted. “You guys-” Kimmy started. “Kimmy, I can deal with this on my own!” I yelled. “
Deena, as your older sister, I demand that you will be quiet, and listen!” Juna yelled. That got me quiet. “Now listen.” Kimmy said. I heard a buzzing noise. “The fairy police!” I yelled, “Go Juna!” Juna went as fast as she could.
All of a sudden, the bike stopped. I saw Juna on the floor, yelling in pain. I jumped down. “Juna!” I yelled. I looked at the fairy police. “Please, make it stop! We just wanna go home!” I said in tears. One of them took off a mask, and I immediately realized that this was not the fairy police. “Foolish girl. We took out the fairy police a long time ago!” One of them said, “So we are not the fairy-” I had charged, and jumped so high!
When I landed, I heard a huge thud. All of them had fallen in the lake. “Deena!” Kimmy said. “No time!” I said. I pointed at Juna. “Daf, help me load her in the wagon! Kimmy, you start the bike. Fon, do you have medicine?” “I do.” Fon said quickly. “Do you have Palcore Medicine?” Kimmy asked. “I do.” Fon said. “Deena, Daf, and Fon, feed Juna the medicine.” Daffodil and I loaded Juna in the wagon. Juna was pretty light, and that was not a surprising factor because she and Kimmy had eaten once a week. As Fon was feeding Juna the medicine, me and Juna grilled Kimmy with questions. “Kimmy, who were they?” I asked. “The forgotten statement was not that we were on the run, it was that we are the only ones alive here! They are the evil organization called Macca! The people there are Maccanians. “We lost friends…” Kimmy replied. “And family.” Fon replied. “It might look like a fairy land, but it’s not.” A random voice behind me replied. I screamed. It was one of the Maccanians! I looked up.
A group of Maccanians had taken Juna! She was awake now, and kicking and screaming. I tried doing one of my famous jumps, but that still didn’t work. Daffodil waved her hands as she was crying. I did the same. But as we were waving bolts of lightning came out. “Our second power!” Daffodil and me yelled at the same time. “Zap em tell they roast like goats, but don’t hit Juna!” Kimmie yelled. Me and Daffodil laughed, and from above, Juna was laughing too. “Get em!” Juna screamed.
And so the battle of the Juna Daf D began.
Chapter 7
The lost battle of the Juna Daf D
Me and Daffodil zapped them as much as possible. I zapped one holding Juna. Juna was loosening.
Another. Juna was loosening more. All of a sudden, the bike stopped again. Kimmy had been hit in the neck with a dart by a Maccanian. I zapped the Maccanian that shot Kimmy, which happened to be holding Juna, and Juna was free. All of a sudden, Daffodil and I were shot. The last thing I saw was Fon, and all was black.
Chapter 8
Traitor!
When I woke up, I was behind bars. I noticed that my leg was cuffed, and then it all came back to me. I remembered being shot, and the last thing I saw was Fon. I looked around. I was sure in a cell. I saw Daffodil in the same state as me, in another cell. (I could see through the bars.) “Daf, you okay?” I murmured. “Deena?” Daffodil yelled. “You okay?” “Yeah, I’m okay! You?” I replied, “I’m fine!” “Where are we?” Daffodil mumbled. “I don’t know.” I replied. All of a sudden, my cell door opened. It was Fon. “You okay?” Fon whispered. “Yeah.” I said. “Deena!” Daffodil cried. She ran to hug me. “Where is Kimmy and Juna?” I asked with pain in my eyes. “The leader has taken them to the Torture Chamber. It’s where people’s power gets sucked out.” Fon replied, surprisingly calmly.
Fon grabbed us both by the hands and sped across the hall. “We have got to get Kimmy and Juna!” Fon cried. As we were going, I realized something was fishy. As we were speeding, I whispered to Daffodil, “Daf, I don’t think Fon is who he says he is.” Fon stopped and started to clap and laugh, still holding our wrists. “Very clever children. Very. How do you think the Maccanians found us! I’m a spy!” He cackled, and before we could say anything, he tied us up and sped across the hall.
Midway, Fon gagged us, so we couldn’t ask annoying questions. I thought in my head that it was weird that we had been captured, just at the start of our adventure to go home. I was terrified when we reached. It had a cold vibe, with spikes and cobwebs everywhere. The walls and floors were black. Fon took us in, and there,
I saw Kimmy and Juna! They were tied up, gagged, and also awake, trying to get out of the ropes. “Boss, I have the other two.” Fon cackled. “Good job Hatred.” The boss cackled. “Hatred?” Kimmy and Juna muffled through their gags. They threw us on the floor too.
Okay, hi i’m back. Fun fact, the boss’s name is the boss. He could have been called many names. You can listen to me drone on on what names, or for the billionth time, you could just start to read!
Finally, they lowered our gags. Fon and the boss left the room, but watched through the window. “Hatred is a trickster frog. I was starting to get a hint suspicious when the Maccanians attacked. That was another forgotten statement. Fon knew about the fairy police, so he called the Maccanians here. He knew about Macca, but he didn’t tell. He was on their side the entire time.” Kimmy said. “Deena darling, is that you? Archeology girl? My heart?” I turned around, and did not believe what I saw.
There, in the cage, was a bald man, archeology gear on, tools in his pocket, and smelled of flight. “Daddy?” I yelled. Tears filled my eyes. I fought them back as Daddy told his story.
Chapter 9
Daddy’s story
Daddy started his story. “Deena, and oh, hello Daffodil! So what happened was, when I was on the plane, a group of Maccanians hitchhiked it.” He began. “The portal! That’s how they came through!” Daffodil and I said together at once. “Darlings, what portal?” Daddy asked.
“There was one in the backyard. I forgot that pink rubber ball you got me for my 9th birthday. Daffodil followed, and well, you get the story.” I replied.
“Thankyou Deena. Anyways, The plane fell and everyone but me died. The Maccanians took me to this lair, and I have been here for the last 2 months.” He said.
“Daddy, it’s been 2 years.” I said softly. He gasped and started to cry. “Beth! You! How could I have taken that flight!” Daddy said through tears. “Daddy, Mummy is pregnant with triplets. Luckily, they are not born yet.” I said. “Wait, oh no, in the human world it’s September 30th! Your brothers or sisters are going to be born tomorrow!” Daddy cried. “Oh no.” I cried. “It’s 12:00 in the night! Mummy must be worried sick!”
“How do we get out?” Kimmy asked. “My dear, as you can see, there are spikes around. Cut yourself, and the key os over there.” He said as he pointed to a key. Kimmy cut herself and freed Daddy. Daddy untied me and I gave him a big hug. Tears filled my eyes. Daddy wiped them away. “I’m here darling, I’m here,” he said.
After freeing everyone else, we managed to get out of the room with the key. As we were running across the hall, Fon jumped in front of us. He grabbed Daffodil and held a knife to her chest.
“Fon please. It’s not too late to do the right thing. You saved my sister’s life. Please don’t do this. You are a selfless frog. Now please.” I said through tears.
Fon let go of Daffodil and started to cry. “All of the other fairy people are in a big cage,” he began, “They took away my family and killed them,” He ranted. “I will help you, and act as a double agent for the boss. I have the key to the portal home, and I can lock it forever. Now go.” He said.
“I don’t think you can Fon.” a voice behind us screamed. It was the boss. He pulled a lever, and before Fon’s feet was a lava pit. “Fon!” I yelled. I grabbed his hand. He was heavy for a frog. “Let go Deena. Let go!” Fon screamed. “No,” I yelled, “I do not give up on friends.” And just like that, I pulled him up. The boss ran towards me and jumped. I attempted my power, and succeeded. I punched him, and he fell in the lava. I landed on the other side, safe and sound, but I was about to topple in the lava! Daffodil immediately took action, and pulled the lever that opened the lava pit, right before I fell. I fell on my back. Everyone came, and helped me up.
After that, we searched for the rest of the citizens, and found them, with the help of Fon.
Finally, after everyone had gone home, Fon opened the portal and we said our goodbyes.
Chapter 10
Right on time
Daffodil said her goodbyes first. Well she just jumped, ran to the portal, said a quick goodbye, and jumped through. Daddy wrapped our arms around me, Kimmy and Juna. “Goodbye Fon.” We said together. “We will never forget you.” I said as we wrapped him in a huge hug. I waved goodbye, and went through the portal.
When we got home, uncle Lion was right there. Daffodil ran to him. Uncle Lion looked at Daddy. “Sup bro.” Uncle Lion said as he wrapped him in a hug. We walked home, right when we got there, I heard crying. Tears of happiness filled my eyes as I saw a shadow of a doctor. My siblings were born. Daddy and me and Kimmy and Juna ran in, and right in the living room, there was mummy, holding three baby girls. Daddy, Kimmy, and Juna hid behind a couch, and I ran and hugged her. “Mummy! I yelled, “I have a surprise for you!” Daddy, Kimmy, and Juna jumped out of the couch. Mummy cracked. She cried insanely, and Daddy went over and kissed her. We wrapped her in a group hug. After that, Daddy said, “Hey Beth, like my hair?” Mummy through a playful punch at him. “Yes, I think you polished your head well!” She said with a laugh. “By the way, their names are Jane, Karly, and Danala.”
We explained it all to mummy. Of course, she believed us. I closed my eyes and breathed. All was well.

The Enchanted Backyard
Progulue
Our story starts on a rainy Sunday morning, when Deena McPop was having a pretend tea party with her dolls while singing High Hopes by PANIC at the DISCO. You know, “Had to have high, high hopes for a living, shooting for the stars when I couldn’t make a killing, didn’t have a dime but I always had a vision!” Okay, I’m sure that you understand now. Alright, fine. That is not when our story starts. But reading this could help you understand a few things. Deena McPop, a ten year old girl had one fear that no kid would ever have: adventure. Why, you ask? Well, I’m not telling you now! We could listen to me gloat and make you think why all day, or we could just start to read!
Chapter 1
The Tragedy
Dear Daddy,
I hope you are doing well.

And so the battle of the Juna Daf D began.
Chapter 7
The lost battle of the Juna Daf D
Me and Daffodil zapped them as much as possible. I zapped one holding Juna. Juna was loosening.

Chapter 10
