World War I
World War one was a war that included countries across the world to fight against each other. This bloody battle took place in the 1900s, from 1914-1918. This battle included the sinking of the Lusitania, which got the United States involved in World War 1, and after many more battles, finally, the Treaty of Versailles was signed. And then came the era of the Harlem residence and the roaring 20s, where many things were invented, entertainment was designed, and a soaring economy.
This hard battle began with the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria Hungary, in Sarajevo with his wife. A Serbian person shot him and his wife. That caused a chain of events, which led to WW1. Technically, the four aspects: Imperialism, Nationalism, Alliances, and Millitariamism, also started the war. Propaganda, such as Uncle Sam was put up. The first battle of World War 1 was the First Battle of the Marne.
WW1 also got neutral countries involved. For example, America became involved in WW1 because of the Sinking of the Lusitania. The Lusitania was a luxurious British passenger ship carrying about 1960 people, including about 160 Americans on May 7, 1915. A German torpedo shot the Lusitania with no warning at all, causing many lives to be lost, of those including about 130 Americans. The US was outraged. Germany promised never to do it again but broke its promise in 1917. The US later joined the Allied powers against the Central Powers, which was Germany.
After the battle of Amiens, WW1 came to an end in 1918, when an armistice was signed. After agreeing to the armistice, the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919. But the treaty was extremely hard on Germany. Germany was forced to disarm, give up land to France, and pay millions of dollars. Germany had to take the “responsibility of damage and loss.” In fact, the Treaty of Versailles was partly responsible for Germany starting World War 11.
After the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, the era of the Harlem Residence, mostly a celebration of black art, music, and literature began in the 1920s, or otherwise known as the roaring 20s. The passing of the 19th amendment caused women to have the right to vote. Louis Armstrong hit off with his famous jazz music. Flappers hit off with wild dances such as the Charleston. Langston Hughs, who wrote many good poems became famous. Babe Ruth played baseball with the New York Yankees and won 4 championships. Charles Lindbergh made the first Transatlantic flight on his airplane, “The Spirit of St. Louis.” But it all came to an end when the Great Depression began in 1929.
In 1908, before the start of WW1, Henry Ford specialized with his car, the Model T Ford. To do that, he created the assembly line. He paid his workers more so they would be happy to work for him, and they would work for him. Each worker became an expert at their task in the assembly line. And then the Model T Ford specialized, which caused Henry Ford’s company to be a success.
This tells about the main events of WW1 and what happened after. After included jazz music, sports, poems, and many things which led up to be the Harlem Residence. The sinking of the Lusitania, (an event of WW1) caused the US to be involved in WW1, and how it started with the killing of a duke, and how it caused many nations to be involved. A soaring economy, and much more. World War 1 was a world war.
